WW2 RAF Officer Rank

 RAF Guide

The rank illustrated left shows the first four Officer Ranks - Pilot Officer being the lowest.  These four are the commonest used for WW2 re-enactment purposes.

Only two widths of rank braid were used during WW2 which formed the ranks of Pilot Officer to Group Captain.  Pilot officer used the narrowest width braid at ¼", this is also used as the centre band in the Sqn Ldr rank.  The ½" width (flying officer) is used to form all the other ranks in varying combinations.
